Fleas: worse than you think

Even the most conscientious dog owner can be faced with a flea infestation. Your dog could be exposed in your home or backyard, on walks, or at the groomer or boarding kennel. A few fleas can turn into a major infestation if not treated quickly. Female fleas can lay 40 to 50 eggs a day.
But it gets worse:

  • Fleas may cause extreme discomfort for your dog: scratching, chewing, biting, fur loss and restlessness.
  • Severe infestations may cause anemia, particularly in young or older pets.
  • Fleas are the source of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD), a common veterinary skin condition.
  • Tapeworm infections may be transmitted by fleas.

Indications:

Comfortis kills fleas and is indicated for the prevention and treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), for one month, on dogs and puppies 14 weeks of age or older and 5 lbs of body weight or greater.

Important Safety Information:

For dogs: The most common adverse reaction reported is vomiting. Other adverse reactions reported in decreasing order of frequency are: depression/lethargy, decreased appetite, incoordination, diarrhea, itching, trembling, excessive salivation and seizures. Serious adverse reactions have been reported following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with Comfortis. Post-approval experience continues to support the safety of Comfortis when used concurrently with heartworm preventatives according to label directions.
